    Good afternoon,

Can any local Kansas City or surrounding area social workers recommend an LGBTQI+ or Two-Spirited agency that I can connect with to discuss possible volunteer opportunities during CSWE in October?   Thanks!

Hi Staci, I will reach out to several folks here in the KC metro, and get back to you.  Gary Bachman

    Hi Staci,

I replied to you on one of the other posts you made about this topic but I'm happy to connect you. We've got several agencies around that work with the LGBTQ+ community, so it would be helpful to know if you have a more specific interest (housing, basic needs, performing arts, BIPOC, etc.) to better connect you. We have several students doing practicum with many of these agencies as well. Not sure what any of them might have happening during CSWE but I'd also recommend you connect with the Queer Caucus group - I think they're planning to do an off-site event from the APM.

Hi Staci, Sorry for the slow follow-up. Life can be very full.

Try these:  "Our Spot KC" ourspotkc.org : "a resource hub to support, advance and equip LGBTQ+ individuals to ensure sustainability & improvement in and of the community."  They have several different programs.
Pride Haven a part of Save Incsaveinckc.org/pridehaven. Save Inc. is a long established "housing" program which has grown a great deal since: I worked with them back in the late 80s when they were an 8 bed residential hospice for people living with AIDS.
KC Care Health Center  https://kccare.org/services/lgbtq/  (Formerly KC Free Health Clinic) is a comprehensive health clinic serving a broad range of services. Although their focus has broadened considerably, they are probably the oldest  public health clinic continually serving the LGBTQ+ population in KC.

The Heart of America Indian Center  kcindiancenter.org   Bob Prue (former director of the MSW program at UMKC) is the director of their "Morningstar Program" and is a graduate of the CSWE "Minority Fellowship Program"

I hope one or more of these may work for you.   Gary Bachman
