    Hello All!

I appreciate having this platform to learn and glean insight from.

I am wondering if any one has had, or if you might have thoughts about;  a student starting a part time internship in a school Spring of 26 , no summer classes, and then complete the second part of their part time internship in the Fall of 26?

I have my thoughts, but I am hoping to find additional insight from others of you who may have had experience, or you have specific policy pertaining to this situation.

I look forward to hearing from you!

We allow for part-time internships like this. We just make sure the site is on board in advance, but haven't had any issues.

Please let me know if you'd like to discuss further.

Hi, Nan. Yes, we have had many students follow this plan for school internships. New York has a lot of school social workers, so we frequently have students intern with various school systems. Most schools are not open during the summer months, so students take the summer off, then return to the internship in the fall semester. It has worked well for our students.

The only minor issue we have had as a program is tracking the completion of field seminars. Instead of taking the field seminars back to back (as most interns do), we have to note that students will take the field seminars in non-concurrent semesters (spring and fall, rather than spring and summer).

    Hope this helps!
