  • 1.  Workload Distribution for Liaisons

    Hope all is well!!!

    For schools with both BSW and MSW programs, can you please share your standards for practicum faculty/staff who carry a caseload as field liaison? I am trying to review what workload distribution looks like as it relates to admin oversight, liaison work, teaching (and what courses), and placement planning. Thanks in advance!!!!

    Good morning Warren,

    I have been in this position for one year. At present my University only has 1 full time faculty liaison. Over the course of 5-7 years we have shifted away from the liaison position being full time faculty. The caseload for FT is 64 students per semester. This person provides some supports with orientation and course syllabi review, but their main focus is on their student caseload. This shift away from FT came about as we experienced changes in leadership (various deans).

    Our faculty liaisons also teach a seminar section. The seminar meets weekly for the BSW students and every other week for the MSW students. They are also responsible to conducting the mid-term and final site visits for each student. We have one full time faculty for the BSW and MSW programs and they are the serve as lead with the adjunct faculty in each program.
