  • 1.  Remote internships?

    Posted Sep 19, 2024 11:40

Has anyone had luck partnering with online therapy businesses such as Better Help and TalkSpace for MSW internships? My initial thought is that these may not be feasible, since my understanding is that most of their clinicians are contracted employees, but I'm not sure if they all operate under that model.

I'd appreciate any suggestions or contacts you may have. Thank you!

Hi Leigh Ann, we have not used either of those organizations, but we have had experiences with a few remote internships like this. This year we have had a student with NAMI's helpline doing coaching and referrals, that has been a good experience. There is a listing here. We also currently have a student with BeMe Health, again provide some direct support as well as developing psycho educational content. I know others have had good experiences with the Crisis Text Line and they actually presented about their practicum program last year at the SW Distance Ed conference. My challenge with them is that they only wanted to partner with schools that would commit to send them several interns each year and I couldn't find a way to make that commitment, but have heard good things about the learning experience.

    Best,
