Hello from New Jersey! 

I'm looking for insight into how universities that have online programs ensure they are meeting state requirements for practicum supervisors. For example in my area, we recommend that supervisors complete a training course called SIFI. I'm curious-do other states have similar requirements or certifications for those supervising practicum students?

If anyone has information or resources on this, I'd love to hear how your programs navigate these requirements.

Hi, Sarah! Our program is in New York, and we also require SIFI training. I understand this is a NYSED requirement and not a CSWE requirement. I haven't been able to find a lot of guidance on what comprehensive SIFI training must include, so we just created our own course that we require agency field supervisors to complete before accepting an intern. We coordinate with our administration to ensure we follow New York state rules.

I'm wondering if you would be open to sharing your SIFI topics with me? I'll be working on creating a more comprehensive curriculum for our own SIFI this summer, but I'm trying to collect some ideas in the meantime.
