  • 1.  Field Name Change - Title Change

    Good morning!

    After extensive discussions, our university has decided to transition from using "field" to "practicum." Surprisingly, the first challenge we're facing is the adjustment of my job title, a task I initially thought would be straightforward. Our HR team has asked for examples from other universities that have undergone similar changes. If your institution has already made this adjustment, could you please share the updated title with me? I appreciate your assistance.

    Our department name was changed to Practicum Learning. My title is Director of MSW Practicum Learning

    Our program has also updated the job title to Director of Practicum Education.

    Hello! My title changed over the summer from Field Education Director to Practicum Education Director. Our faculty voted to approve a language changes in practicum education courses at the recommendation of the practicum education committee, and my title change reflected alignment with the faculty-approved language.

    Something that may be different in my situation is that I am a clinical assistant professor, and our department seems to have latitude to refine additional titles.

    I was recently hired and the title was changed from "Field Director" to "Practicum Director" as part of the newer job posting.   I will reach out to those on the Search Committee to inquire about how this was managed.   I'll reach back out with more information.

    Our school changed the name pretty easily and without any kind of push back. Our office is now the Practicum office and all of our positions have  replaced the "Field" with "Practicum" in our titles. We are working on cleaning up our documents and at times do still use both terms interchangeably but we're making progress.
