    Greetings colleagues!
I hope your Spring semesters are finishing up well and that you're taking good care during these fraught times.
I'm writing as a member of CSWE's Council on Field Education (COFE) Research & Publications subcommittee to invite your input on an updated iteration of CSWE's 2015 "State of the Field" survey.
The 2015 survey focused largely on administrative structures, staffing, placement models, and adequacy of resources. I've attached the executive summary that came from the last survey, and here is a link to the additional analyses/final report.
For the updated survey, we do anticipate retaining these core areas for comparison over time, but also would like to expand to reflect the current context of practicum education. This could include (but is certainly not limited to):
    • Online programs and remote/hybrid placements
    • Use of artificial intelligence (AI) in practice/practicum education
    • Placement disruption

However, we are very interested in your perspective.

    • What should we be asking that was not previously considered?
    • What emerging challenges, tensions, or innovations in practicum education need to be better understood at a national level?
We welcome your insight to help better capture the current "state of field education." If you're willing, please share a few brief thoughts (bullet points welcome); feel free to respond here, or email me back individually (jsienkew@uvm.edu).
Thank you for helping shape this effort, and more, for everything you do (which is a lot!) to support social work practicum education!
    Sincerely,
Jean (on behalf of COFE Research & Publications)
