Bio

I am originally from Karachi, Pakistan and now live in Grand Junction, Colorado. I completed my BA in Political Science & English Literature and a BSW from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. I received my MSW from University of Toronto specializing in Social Justice & Diversity and a Collaborative MA in South Asian Studies. In Toronto I worked with refugees, immigrants and those living in poverty. I concurrently assisted in participatory based and community based research with women & transwomen experiencing houselessness. I am a trained Yoga Instructor with over 1000 hours of teaching experience. I volunteered as a yoga instructor in the Central Prison for women in Karachi from 2009-2012. I am an avid reader and writer. I recently joined the Social Work program at Colorado Mesa University as the BSW Field Director where I teach courses on Social Justice, Ethics and the Practicum Seminar course.
