Dr. Destany Schafer-Morgan is a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) in the state of Oklahoma. She earned her master’s degree in social work, and school social worker certification, from the University of Cincinnati in 2013. In 2019, Destany completed her doctorate in social work from the University of Southern California, where she focused on the Grand Challenge of reducing extreme economic inequality within the Native American population. Destany also has extensive experience in the field of child welfare, where she worked closely with families and children.
Presently, Destany serves as Assistant Professor and Field Director of Social Work at East Central University, in Ada, Oklahoma. In addition, Destany is an active member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) and the non-profit organization Influencing Social Policy. She also serves on numerous social work-related boards, including Hofanti Chokma and Ada Homeless Services.
Destany has been married to her husband, Larry, for 8 years. They have 2 young boys, Ison and Atlas. They are very involved with the Chickasaw Nation, in which they are proud enrolled tribal members. In their free time, they love spending time together as a family, being outdoors, playing sports, and attending cultural events.
