    Hi All,

As someone who has taught MSW students, and worked in healthcare for over 35 years, I know that students, and those early in their career, need more education around working with folks who may have a serious illness. I want to share a NEW workshop that offers a rich curriculum for any social worker in health care. It's called "Reconstructing Palliative Care:A Beginning".

Designed to be in-person the goal is shared learning in the setting of protected time to begin to reconstruct palliative care practice, questioning some primary constructs and working to develop a model that integrates the learnings and experiences of clinicians practicing over the past half century.

We cover topics such as Family, Team, Assessment/Intervention, Pain, Ethics and Language understanding the intersectionality of this content – the horizontal and vertical planes of practice that create a tapestry of experience which joins patients, families, and staff.

Terry Altilio and myself are the faculty for the workshop. Our hope is that this workshop can help prepare social workers for a career in healthcare in addition to creating a community of practice.

We would be happy to speak with you about bringing this educational opportunity to your institution. Please email me at vickie.leff@gmail.com with your interest or with questions.
