Social Work Education

Hi All,

In social work, we deeply understand the value of education drawn from lived experience. BSW, MSW, and DSW students appreciate learning from the voices of clinicians. Several schools have incorporated the new book Mirrors and Windows: Reflections on the Journey in Serious Illness Practice into their curriculum and we'd like to suggest more educators use this resource. The book is a collection of 50 essays from social workers who work in health care, each essay under 700 words. In this age of increasing AI, Mirrors and Windows can sit alongside this trend with real-life content for our students.

Suggestions for use in the classroom include weekly reading of essays; writing reflections on a few essays, taking notes on the book, etc. to spark discussion, conversation, and discourse.
