The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine is requesting suggestions for experts to participate on the Executive Committee for Societal Experts Action Network (SEAN). SEAN is a network of social, behavioral, and economic sciences experts convened by the National Academies that seeks to consolidate findings and provide actionable responses and solutions to inquiries from federal, state, and local governments and other decision makers. SEAN was created at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic to address questions ranging from how to build confidence public health interventions to ways education leaders can meaningfully address newfound disruptions. The program has since evolved to address societal challenges across a range of topics.
The Executive Committee will provide a range of advisory and backbone support for SEAN activities. National Academies staff will leverage submitted suggestions to fill open seats on the Executive Committee of approximately 12 total volunteer experts with expertise particularly in the following areas:
- Psychology
- Public Health
- Public Policy
- Mental Health
- Substance Use
- Climate Science
- Economics
- Communications
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
- Education
Suggestions for experts to serve on the Committee must be submitted by November 27, 2023. The submission portal with additional information on the opportunity can be found here.
