Ending spanking - the last hold out on family violence

Sep 22, 2022 15:47

Please join me in starting conversations on spanking in our classrooms, homes, and communities.  This book, an excellent additional text in many classes - family social work, history, child development, and others - helps us explore a topic that all of us know well, spanking.  The literature is clear, spanking outcomes are similar to that of physical abuse and it is time social workers take a very clear stance that all spanking is hitting and all hitting is violence.

Let's end all forms of family violence because parents are worth it too!   Parents who hit their kids are hurting too.  Let's work together to end spanking.  To start - we need to talk about it!   Please consider this social work book for your courses!
I'm happy to zoom in to classes to present!  Thanks for considering.  Christina Erickson, Ph.D., Augsburg University, ericksoc@augsburg.edu
