  • 1.  Please share - survey for students who completed employment based internships

    Posted 2 days ago

Hi all, I'm involved in a study about employment-based placements and we are collecting a 2nd round of data this year. Please consider sharing with your students/alumni who have completed employment-based internships. This survey will remain open through 5/15.

You are being asked to volunteer in a research study called "Social Work Students' Experiences with Employer-Based Practicum" by Jenifer Gamble, PhD, MSSW; Lindsey Rinehart, MSW; Alexandra Scroggins, MSW; and Erin Stevenson, PhD, MSW.  This team of social work researchers is looking to better understand the impact that Employer-Based Practicum (EBP) may have had on social work students and their ability to complete their social work degree.
    Complete Survey

You must have completed/are completing an Employer-Based Practicum to participate in this study. As a participant, you will be asked to complete a survey. It should take approximately 10 minutes. Participation in this survey is voluntary. All responses are anonymous and being used to better understand social work program EBP options. You may refuse to take part in the research or exit the survey at any time without penalty. You are free to decline to answer any question you do not wish to answer for any reason. The following survey items have been designed to better understand the motivating factors, benefits, and drawbacks that completing an EBP may have had for students and their ability to navigate their educational program and their lives. Aggregate response data may be shared to help other social work programs improve on the program options available to students.

Potential Risks or Discomforts: The possible risks or discomforts of the study are minimal. You may feel uncomfortable answering questions about your motivations in completing an EBP. If you wish to stop the survey anytime, you may skip questions you prefer not to answer. If you experience discomfort from this survey, you may contact Alexandra Scroggins, MSW. While there is no direct benefit for your participation in the study, it is reasonable to expect that the results may provide information to improve social work education delivery. This survey is anonymous (i.e., neither the names of participants nor the program that respondents are registered in will be asked for). Only the investigators can access aggregate data. The data is collected and stored in Qualtrics.

If you want to see these results, contact Jenifer Gamble, Ph.D. (jenifer.gamble@uky.edu ), Alexandra Scroggins, MSW (Alexandra.Scroggins@eku.edu), or Lindsey Rinehart, MSW (lindsey.rinehart@mail.wvu.edu). If you have questions concerning your rights as a subject, you may contact the Institutional Review Board at Eastern Kentucky University: irb@eku.edu. Your participation in this research is voluntary. Refusal to participate (or discontinue participation) will involve no penalty or loss of benefits to which you are otherwise entitled. By completing items in this anonymous survey you are consenting to research participation. We are grateful for your time and candid responses and thank you in advance for your attention.
