New Issue of FIELD EDUCATOR Just Released
Dear Subscribers,
The fall 2024 issue of Field Educator is now available:Current Issue : Field Educator
We have much to celebrate as we share this latest issue. As you'll read from Executive Editor Suzanne Sankar, we have selected a new name for the journal that best reflects the important work of promoting and advancing research and innovation in practicum education, the signature pedagogy of social work education. Starting with the spring 2025 issue, the journal will be titled Applied Learning in Social Work Education.
In addition, each year we sponsor an annual award to promote excellence in practicum education scholarship. A $500 prize is awarded for outstanding scholarly research in social work field education. We are pleased to announce this year's winners: Dr. Jacqueline M. McGonley, Ms. Christine Escobar-Sawicki, Dr. Claudia Sellmaier, and Dr. Tarek Zidan for their article Supporting Students with Disabilities in Social Work Field Placements: What Is Being Done?, published in the spring 2024 issue.
We hope you can join us at Simmons University's reception on the evening of Saturday, October 26 at the Council on Social Work Education's Annual Program Meeting, as we present the award and recognize this outstanding contribution to our field.
Our fall issue includes outstanding scholarly research in timely and relevant areas. Some areas for your attention include: an article by Kalea E. Benner, et al., that explores practicum directors' experience with equity; and, the Field Talks podcast episode on research about incorporating the service user perspective in social work education.
We are pleased to share these highlights and the entire fall 2024 issue with you.
Sincerely,
Amy Skeen, DSW, LCSW, PEL
