    Hello!

We require our students to purchase liability insurance as a student.  This is something they have to purchase on their own and is required by us before they can start in their practicum placement and that they must keep current while they are in placement (since most insurance plans are for 12 months).  Is this a common practice among other schools?  Field/Practicum Education Programs, what do you require of your students?  Thanks!

Our program does the same thing.  Students must purchase their own liability insurance before they are able to begin their field practicum.  We give them options on where to purchase liability insurance but also encourage them to shop around and compare costs, policy coverage.

Hi Josh, our program also does this. We allow them to shop around but give them a link on our database to what we find to be the cheapest and most effective. They also must keep it active throughout the entirety of their field practicum.
