    Dear Field Educators,

     

    Faculty from the UNC Charlotte School of Social Work, Frances Ferrante-Fusilli and Ticola Ross are conducting a research study: Exploring Anti-Racist Social Work Competencies and Learning Opportunities in Field  (IRB-23-0548).  We invite you to share this study with your field placement supervisors by email , by copying and pasting the text below (between the asterisks)

    Faculty from the UNC Charlotte School of Social Work, Frances Ferrante-Fusilli and Ticola Ross are conducting a research study: Exploring Anti-Racist Social Work Competencies and Learning Opportunities in Field  (IRB-23-0548).  

     

    The purpose of this study is to explore the knowledge of field supervisors (social workers who oversee social work students in field placement) knowledge of anti-racism in social work practice, specifically in the education of future social workers. This study will assess the knowledge of field instructors in regards to anti-racism in field education, as this is a newly expanded competency for social work students. This study will also assess support needed from Schools of Social Work to support field supervisors in helping field students developing competency in this area. Researchers will also ask study participants what antiracist practice looks like in their own organizations/practice areas.  

     

    If you agree to participate you will be asked to complete an electronic survey in Qualtrics. Your survey responses will be anonymous.The time commitment to complete the survey is approximately 10 minutes.

     

    Participants who complete the survey will have the option to be entered into a drawing (22 chances to win) to receive a $15 Target gift card. Gift cards will be mailed after the drawing in June 2023.

     

    Participants must be over 18 and must have supervised at least one social work student for a field placement experience.  Participation in this study is voluntary. Your choice to either participate or not participate in the study will have no impact on your status as a field supervisor.

    This is important work, I look forward to seeing what comes out of your research. My dissertation topic, exploring Office of Field Education staff's, faculty field liaisons, and field instructors' experiences with integrating values of diversity and social justice in their roles within the field education department, is similar- would love to collaborate at some point.
