The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) has announced applications for the Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Recovery (STAR) Loan Repayment Program are now open for submissions. Graduate-level behavioral and mental health professionals and clinical social workers are eligible to receive up to $250,000 in loan forgiveness for a 6-year commitment to serve at an eligible substance use disorder (SUD) treatment facility or community health center. Loan recipients must be employed at, or have accepted a position, at a facility approved for the STAR Loan Repayment Program located in underserved areas or anywhere the mean drug overdose death rate per 100,000 people is higher than the most recent available national average overdose death rate, as reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The application is open now through July 10.
