    The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) recently published forecasted announcements of several signature health professions workforce programs expected to be released this fall and winter. The following programs were recently forecasted:

    Geriatric Workforce Enhancement Program (GWEP)

    • GWEP aims to develop an integrated geriatrics and primary care workforce to address gaps in care for older adults.
    • Estimated release date: September 26, 2023
    • Estimated application deadline: January 5, 2024

    Centers of Excellence (COE)

    • The COE program supports education and training opportunities focused on increasing racial and ethnic diversity among health professionals and addressing minority health issues.
    • Estimated release date: November 22, 2023
    • Estimated application deadline: January 23, 2024

    Behavioral Health Workforce Education and Training Program (BHWET) - Professionals

    • The BHWET-Professionals program aims to increase the supply and distribution of behavioral health professionals, with a focus on child, adolescent, and transitional-aged youth behavioral health disorders.
    • Estimated release date: November 28, 2023
    • Estimated application deadline: January 29, 2024

    Supporting the Mental Health Among the Health Professions Workforce

    • This program aims to "support health care entities…such as hospitals, community health centers, and rural health clinics, or medical professional associations, to promote wellness, resilience, and mental health of the health care professional workforce using established or enhanced evidence-based or evidence-informed programs to transform organizational cultures."
    • Estimated release date: December 4, 2023
    • Estimated application deadline: February 5, 2024

    Opioid-Impacted Family Support Program (OIFSP)

    • OIFSP supports training of "peer support specialists and other behavioral health-related paraprofessionals who work on integrated, interprofessional teams in providing services to children whose parents are impacted by opioid use disorders (OUD) and other substance use disorders (SUD)."
    • Estimated release date: December 8, 2023
    • Estimated application deadline: March 11, 2024

    *Licensed and certified master's level social workers (LSW or LCMSW) are eligible to apply.
