    Dear colleagues,

My name is Francisco J. Lozornio. I am an Assistant Professor at the Erikson Institute Social Work Program.

I hope you are doing well. I am excited to share this recently finalized project with you.

This short documentary film [20 minutes] project, "Al Son que me Toquen," was a unique endeavor led by KT McClure, an MSW student. She directed and produced the film as an MSW internship project, with my support as her internship instructor. Research and interviews were used to construct the film's narrative. The overarching goal of this project was to humanize the experience of Venezuelan migrants and refugees who have arrived in Chicago within the last two years. Please find time to view the film and let me know your thoughts.

KT and I will present this film at the Latino Social Worker Organization conference at the Univeristy of Illinois Chicago (UIC) on October 3rd, 2024.

Here is the link to the 20-minute documentary film.

This film was Excellent, Dr. Lozornio.

Congrats to your MSW student for making this powerful documentary.

I teach diversity in the undergraduate and graduate programs at the College of Staten Island's social work program.

I will be posting this on Blackboard when we speak about Xenophobia during the current semester.
I will also email this link to colleagues at CSI

    Gwen Robinson,  DSW, LMSW.

PS. I might also share this with my graduate level social welfare policy class. [Thinking out loud: I have discussed with the MSW director reviving an elective course--"Immigration and Social Work...I will discuss this video as one of the required videos/readings of the course]
