CSWE Government Relations (GR) is sharing the following engagement opportunity from the National Institutes of Health (NIH). CSWE GR is able to provide high-level context about this opportunity.
The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) released a new RFA on "Pilot Interventions to Integrate Social Care and Medical Care to Improve Health Equity." This RFA will support pilot and feasibility trials to investigate interventions that include screening and addressing adverse social determinants of health during health care visits. For this opportunity, preliminary data on intervention efficacy are not required and the proposed pilots and feasibility trials should prepare the foundation for larger clinical trials that will integrate social care and medical care. NIDDK is interested in studies that could improve health outcomes related to the prevention and treatment of diseases that fall within the mission of NIDDK. Overall, the funding opportunity hopes to develop practical approaches that can be used in health care settings to reduce health disparities. The letter of intent is due September 19, 2023 and the due date is October 19, 2023. The projects are limited to $300,000 in direct costs per year for a maximum project period of 3 years. NIDDK plans to fund up to 3 awards.
