Answering the Call Opioid-related deaths and substance use disorders (SUDs) continue to rise in the United States. The gap between addiction specialists and patient need is astounding. Only 1.4% of people who need treatment receive it. Over 106,000 drug-related overdose deaths occurred in the United States in 2021.

This is a free resource I helped create through a Michigan grant (partnering with Michigan State University, Wayne State University and the University of Michigan Schools of Social Work). Michigan Collaborative Addiction Resources & Education System

Your students can access a variety of Addiction Modules simply by enrolling (for free). There are currently 22 modules that range in topics from populations (Sexual and Gender Minorities, Black populations, Veterans, Families, Incarcerated Persons, etc) to substances (nicotine, club drugs, opioids, cannabis, alcohol, inhalants, etc).

This past summer I used these modules to teach a summer Social Work Elective on Addictions (I'd be happy to share my syllabus, phorner@msu.edu).

Please reach out if you have any questions!
