The answer is both - we use the exam data for assessment purposes and students are expected to pass in order to graduate. We have a two-track option in our MSW program - either a thesis track or a comprehensive exam track. Most students take the exam - we undergo significant preparation for the exam and if students underperform, we provide individualized support to address any barriers and allow a re-take when needed.

Hello!
For the comprehensive exam, is for assessment or does the student have to pass in order for graduation?

We administer a comprehensive exam within a few weeks of students graduating with questions aligned with the learning competencies. It serves the dual purpose of evaluation and preparation for the licensure exam.

Hello,
I'm looking for what other programs are doing to evaluate student learning in field.
- Is anyone doing anything other than a Learning Contract?
- How are you evaluating student learning for field? We are debating the following:
- Capstone Project that ties to their field practicum.
- Portfolio based on student's individualized Learning Contract. Students will submit evidence for each competency and at least two of the practice behaviors.
- Open to other suggestions of what you are doing in your programs.
- Pros/cons of what you are currently doing?
Thank you
