Bio

Hi! I earned my BSW and MSW from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in 1991 and 1992 respectively, and a Ph.D. in social work from Tulane University in 2006.I have been a licensed clinical social worker for over 25 years, working in a variety of behavioral health settings such as addictions, mental health, criminal/juvenile justice, and family preservation. As a workshop trainer for over 20 years, I have presented on topics such as clinical supervision, motivational interviewing, and addictions. My research interests include the dissemination and implementation of motivational interviewing across practice settings. I am working on a Motivational Interviewing Beliefs inventory to assess how closely a person's beliefs about client change align with the spirit of motivational interviewing. I'm an assistant professor with the undergraduate social work program at Southeastern Louisiana University. As one of three members of the international Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers residing in Louisiana, I have conducted over 100 workshops related to motivational interviewing.
