CSWE joined more than 80 education associations in calling for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency to withdraw the recent guidance regarding international students and the upcoming 2020-21 academic year. In a separate effort, CSWE was joined by more than a dozen health professions education associations making the same request.
The ICE guidance would result in many international students having to leave the United States or transfer schools if their institution moves to fully online operations as a result of COVID-19. This disruption would create hardships both for faculty and students, including interruption of program completion, loss of international students, and health concerns.
