The CSWE Public Policy Initiative (PPI) is sharing a funding opportunity announcement (FOA) from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) within the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). The PPI is able to provide high-level context about this opportunity.
SAMHSA released an FOA and is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2020 Centers of Excellence (CoE) for Behavioral Health Disparities. The purpose of this program is to "establish three CoEs to develop and disseminate training and technical assistance for healthcare practitioners on issues related to addressing behavioral health disparities." The recipients will be expected to address the disparities in behavioral healthcare in three key populations: African Americans, LGBTQ, and the aging population (age 60 and over).
The anticipated total available funding is $2.1 million with an estimated number of three awards. The estimated award amount will be up to $700,000 per year.
Applications are due by August 19, 2020.
