Hi Kim,
We do not use InPlace at our university but one of our major health networks in the area requires students to submit their onboarding materials through InPlace. I'm not sure if my struggle is that I don't use it frequently enough, but I don't find it as intuitive as some of the other programs. They also charge each student $45 which I don't love.
I've used Sonia in the past and currently use Exxat. Each program will have their pros and cons and it seems that none are specifically designed with social work in mind. I think Sonia started out for nursing and Exxat's primary target is rehab sciences (PT, OT) then they adapt for our needs. My main issue with Sonia was the price and that they are Windows based and not compatible with Apple (we are an Apple campus).
Overall, Exxat's new updated program (Prism) has been fairly easy to use and meets our needs for the primary tasks I'm looking for - agency database, managing the placement planning process, monitoring hours during placements and facilitating evaluations with reporting for CSWE assessment. If your university has rehab sciences and is interested in adopting it for all programs, I think they will work with you around pricing and 'group discounts'. I have also been very happy with their training and customer service/tech support.
I hope this is helpful! Good luck in your search for the software program that will meet your needs!

Subject: InPlace field software--would love your insight!
Good morning, fellow field directors!
I'd love to hear feedback from any of you who are using InPlace as your field software--what are the challenges you have experienced with this? We use IPT and are exploring new software options. You can post here or email me at kcrane@utk.edu. Appreciate your help so much with this.
Thank you!
