Hi all!
I'm a new Field Director at a fairly new social work program and I'm so glad I found this community! I was hoping to get y'all's insight about a few things, to see what has worked and what hasn't worked for your programs. What I am primarily curious about is what class structure has worked best for your program in terms of supporting and monitoring your students in Field? Right now, we have pre-field and practicum classes, along with a field seminar class in their final semester. Students can choose between a split and block placement. I am considering ways to make the classes less complicated for students. Secondly, have you had better success with asynchronous or synchronous classes? My preference is to make most of our Field classes asynchronous, as many of our students work and/or commute in from more rural areas (on top of doing their field placements in rural areas, as well). If you have any examples of an asynchronous syllabus for a Field class you'd be willing to share, I would so appreciate it!
Thanks in advance for your insight!
