    Colleagues,

I am sharing an upcoming event, which I hope people are able to attend. The University of Kansas Center for LGBTQ+ Research and Advocacy is hosting a national town hall on anti-transgender policies and social work education. During this current legislative session more than 300 pieces of anti-LGBTQ legislation has been put forth or passed by state legislatures including restrictions on medical gender affirmation services, bans on transgender athletes participating in sports, restrictive restroom policies, and banning discussions of gender identity in the classroom. These transphobic attacks on transgender and non-binary communities have escalated in the last few year and only exacerbate and justify the discrimination, harassment, and violence against transgender and non-binary communities. This town hall brings to together social work scholars, practitioners, and students to discuss how social work can respond to the onslaught of anti-trans legislation. CEU available. You can register for the event here. See attached flyer for details.
