Grief, grieving and preparing the social work profession for what's next

Hello everyone.   Thought I would share a recent post I put together from my Social Work Futures blog.   It is important and heartwarming to see our first national acknowledgement of lives lost during covid-19 via the new administration and the moving ceremony in Washington DC the night before the inauguration.   I believe there will be a huge role for social work in reconciling the grief (and anger) that will come in waves for many years ahead.     And that these experiences and the healing from them, may exceed our current knowledge...we will need to learn together through it.

Towards the end of this post, there is a running list I'm maintaining regarding how grief is being expressed - in both formal and informal settings.

Sharing with love, respect and solidarity for all of us learning to be in these new times and working for justice and healing.

Grief and the future of social work:  An invitation to grow in readiness and respect.

My email is nissen@pdx.edu - if you're interested in other discussions about this.   Warmly - L.
