The CSWE Public Policy Initiative (PPI) is sharing a Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) announcement from the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).  The PPI is able to provide high-level context about this opportunity.

NIDA released a NOSI due to the urgent need for "remotely delivered Substance Use Disorder (SUD) treatments to reduce patient burden and for methods to conduct clinical trials remotely."   The purpose of the NOSI is to stimulate research to evaluate the safety and efficacy of telemedicine treatments for SUD and to develop tools for remote data collection for clinical trials of treatments for SUD.

NIDA encourages applications that will improve the ability to "offer remotely-delivered SUD treatments to patients, including efforts to bring access to difficult to reach populations, and conduct clinical trials of novel treatments using remote patient safety and clinical outcomes monitoring to reduce the need for in-person clinical visits."  Additionally, the NOSI encourages research among groups that have been disproportionately impacted by COVID-19.

The first available due date for applications is October 05, 2020.

The full NOSI can be found here
