    CSWE Government Relations (GR) is sharing a new funding opportunity announcement (FOA) from the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) within the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP).  CSWE GR is able to provide high-level context about this opportunity.

    The aim of the FOA is "for funding to develop and promote post-secondary and professional continuing education for child protection professions in the field including law enforcement officers, social workers, mental and medical health professionals, and prosecutors."  The program seeks to further DOJ's mission by "reducing crime and victimization and promoting public safety through enhancing the capacity of child abuse professionals."

    Objectives of the program include:

    • "Increase child advocacy training opportunities in undergraduate, graduate, or continuing education programs; and
    • support integration of these trainings into degree or certificate-based tracks for child protection professionals as described above."

    Specific deliverables for this program include but are not limited to:

    • "Conduct an analysis of curricula needs in the area of child advocacy and children exposed to violence for child protection professionals, with recommendations to OJJDP;
    • develop a plan for integrating new or enhanced training curricula into post-secondary (undergraduate, graduate, or continuing education) educational programs to ensure maximum training opportunities for child protection professionals; and
    • create new and/or enhance existing child protection training and disseminate/deliver training resources in response to the aforementioned plan."

    Due Dates: The Grants.gov deadline to apply is July 2, 2021 by 11:59 PM ET and the JustGrants deadline to apply is July 16, 2021 by 11:59 PM ET.

    Funding Amount: OJJDP anticipates a total funding of $900,000 to support two awards funded at $450,000 each.

    Eligibility: Non-profits and public and private institutions of higher education are eligible to apply.
