Bio

I am a Licensed Independent Social Worker with Supervision Credentials in the state of Ohio and have previously been licensed in NY, FL, VA. I am currently a tenured Associate Professor of Social Work at Youngstown State University. I teach supervision; addiction and mental health counseling and DSM diagnosis; advanced clinical practice with individuals and groups; creative arts therapies, practice with LGBTQIA clients, military social work, BSW integrated field seminar, and MSW capstone. I have over 20 years’ experience as a credentialed poetry therapist and currently am a Mentor/Poetry Therapy Practitioner [MPTP] and teach and train internationally. I have published textbook chapters on poetry therapy and group supervision and articles on poetry therapy, group supervision, reflective journals, student veterans, and mindfulness-based approaches. I am a psychotherapist and poetry therapist in private practice, where I specialize in gender dysphoria, LGBT issues, mindfulness-based approaches to therapy, poetry and journal therapy, teletherapy, and clinical and training supervision. I am a published poet and short story writer and teach creative writing “on the side.”
