    Dear Field Directors,

I would like your help in disseminating this research survey.

My name is Dr. Stephanie Washington. My research partner and I are co-principal investigators on a SFA State University IRB approved (#AY2022-2242) research study entitled: a Study Exploring Roles and Responsibilities of Field Educators in Effectively Preparing Students. We are asking that participants complete a confidential survey which will take 15-20 minutes.

We know that your social work programs value confidentiality, so we are not asking you to share your contacts. We ask that you send the following invitation to participate in our research study to both your field instructors and field liaisons. We understand that the spring semester is a very busy time, so we greatly appreciate your willingness to further our research in this area.

We thank you for your time,

Please copy and paste the following to your field instructors and liaisons with the subject: Research survey of field instructors and liaisons

    Dear Field Instructor/Field Liaison:

We are writing to you to request your participation in a brief survey. As you are aware, the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) has identified field instruction as the signature pedagogy for social work.

    ·         Accomplishing the aims of field instruction is dependent on the efforts of a field instructor and a field liaison who supervise students through direct instruction (teaching), monitoring of learning tasks, coaching/mentoring, supportive relationships, mutual reflection, and both summative and formative assessment and evaluation.

    ·         We would like to examine how you interpret these roles and learn more about the tasks that you use to accomplish them.

This survey is brief, and it will take you approximately 15-20 minutes to complete. Once you click on the link below, you will be taken to the survey. At that time, you can read a little more about the purpose of the research, and you can either consent to participate or decide not to consent to participate. If you consent to participate, you will proceed with the remainder of the survey. If you do not consent to participate, click that response and no further action is needed. Survey Link: https://sfasu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_em1aFCgAI0PmUvQ

*At the conclusion of the survey, you will also be invited to participate in further research.

Your participation in this survey is completely voluntary and all responses are confidential. No personally identifiable information will be associated with your responses in any reports of this data. The Stephen F. Austin State University Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Subjects in Research has approved (#AY2022-2242) this study. Should you have any questions or comments, please feel free to contact the co-principal investigators: Stephanie.Washington@sfasu.educollinsc2@sfasu.edu.

We thank you for considering participation and contributing to this study. Your feedback is critical in helping us to shape our signature pedagogy and improving professional development for field instructors and field liaisons.
