    FIU's School of Social Work is excited to be hiring for three clinical positions:  two (2) Clinical Assistant Teaching Professors and one (1) BSSW Field Coordinator/Clinical Assistant Teaching Professor.

    • Full-time, non-tenure track, 9-month positions
    • The two Clinical Assistant Teaching Professor positions include teaching four classes in the fall and spring each and the possibility of some courses in the summer.
    • The BSSW Field Coordinator/Clinical Assistant Teaching Professor position includes administering the BSSW Field Program and teaching two field seminar courses each in fall and spring.

    We are looking for creative, experienced social workers with a commitment to student learning and diversity.

    CLINICAL ASSISTANT TEACHING PROFESSOR/BSSW FIELD COORDINATOR

    The Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work's mission is to improve health, health equity, and the wellbeing of local, national, and global populations through education, research, and partnerships that are innovative and transformative. The college's academic disciplines-public health, dietetics and nutrition, social work, and disaster preparedness-are advancing research and practices to realize this mission, bringing students and faculty to the forefront of their fields. According to the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research, the college ranks 16th in the nation for public health schools at public universities receiving National Institutes of Health (NIH) research funding.     The School of Social Work within the Robert Stempel College of Public Health and Social Work at Florida International University has been accredited by the Council of Social Work Education since 1974 and offers the BSW, MSW and Ph.D.  The MSW degree program was recently ranked in the top 50 graduate social work programs by US News and World Report, for 2023.

     

    The School of Social Work is seeking an individual to fill the full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-earning Clinical Assistant Teaching Professor/BSSW Field Coordinator position. This position offers a unique opportunity to educate a student body consisting largely of underrepresented populations, many of whom are first time in college and/or graduate school. The appointment will be as a 9-month, non-tenure-track, clinical faculty member. Responsibilities will include the administration and management of the BSSW field education program, performing field liaison visits in the community, teaching field-related coursework, and serving on School, College, and University committees.

     

    Applicants must have at a minimum: an MSW from an accredited School of Social Work; at least two years post-MSW clinical practice experience; experience teaching in higher education; and a proven track record of coordinating a field education program, which includes extensive knowledge of the South Florida social service community and a strong potential for collaborating with community partners on behalf of the School, College, and University. A Florida LCSW is preferred. Candidates should possess expertise in applied clinical interventions and practice with individuals, families, and groups. Successful applicants should demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice as well as the interpersonal and verbal communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate with a diverse community of students, staff, and faculty. In addition, applicants must have experience with and a willingness to deliver online course offerings.
