Joyce Everett is a leading scholar in child welfare and issues related to stress and coping with stress for Black women, diversity, cultural competence, and research. At Smith College, Dr. Everett chaired the Social Welfare Policy Sequence and the doctoral program. She mentored and guided countless students with her grace, wisdom, and compassion and remains a steadfast champion for social justice and equity.

"Cookie" has been at USJ since 2017, teaching in the MSW program. Her research and scholarship have focused on military women and their families. She is also a licensed independent clinical social worker with over 25 years of direct practice with individuals, families, and groups. Her current interests focus on aging sexual and gender minorities. Her mentor, Dr. Joyce Everett is an outstanding scholar who I regard as a gold star social worker and academic. She always provided steady, supportive, and encouraging guidance and I am forever grateful that our paths crossed.
