    Hi CSWE Spark Community,
I'm a doctoral student at Stephen F. Austin State University Doctor of Social Work program, and I am conducting a mixed-methods, exploratory research study on students' perceptions of implementing thanatology (death, dying, bereavement, grief and loss) curriculum in social work. I am seeking participants who currently attend CSWE-accredited MSW programs at one of the following HBCUs: Morgan State University, North Carolina A&T State University/ University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Southern University at New Orleans, Fayetteville State University, Albany State University.
The linked survey is anonymous and will take approximately 10-12 minutes to complete.
As the African Proverb says, "It takes a village!" Kindly share the link below with students in your MSW program or scan the QR code on the attached flyer below.
Click here for more information or to participate.
    Description of the study:
The insights and experiences of HBCU MSW students are valuable to this research, which aims to add the perspectives of an understudied population to the professional knowledge base in this area and further substantiate previous research studies that have identified the (still unmet/inadequately met) need to add grief and loss focused core curricula to BSW and MSW programs in order to prepare students for competent social work practice in their communities.
Seeking Participants: Students identifying as African American/Black in Master of Social Work Programs at one of the listed HBCUs
    • If you are a MSW student at one of the following schools [Morgan State University, North Carolina A&T State University/ University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Southern University at New Orleans, Fayetteville State University, Albany State University] please consider participating in this study.
    • Snowball sampling, if you know someone who meets inclusion criteria, please share this email, the Qualtrics link/QR code, or the attached flyer.
Your participation may contribute to a better understanding of current students' perceptions and inform how to implement thanatology (death, dying, bereavement, grief and loss) into future social work curricula.
